The wind up thing on the back of a Bit Char-G control is to wind up the antena. The Japanese bit Char-G is the most Expensive, but is the best Micro R/C On the Market. Tomy also makes the Micro-Q that people have been getting, at a price of 15-20 dollars at the swapmeet. and they are not as responsive, and the range of use is not as far as the Bit Char-G.

Bit Char-G - 45 sec charge time for
2 minute Run time
10 feet range
upgradeable motor to 3.0
Upgradeable battery to NIMH

Price: $35 for a small kit
- car
- remote
- body
- wheels
- motor

$50 for a deluxe kit
- Car
- 2 body's
- 3 differnt wheel options & gears
-Drifiting wheels
-Street Wheels
-Slicks
- remote
- motor
I haven't tried the DigiQ but many people say it's not the great.

The Micro Q
this is the most offorable, but it is a crapy car if you played with the other name brand cars. It's cheep though I've even found Micro-Q for 7 dollars.

There are modifications for the Micro-Q though. You can double the power and make it go twice as fast, or take out the capacitor and make the control range longer. I've seen light kits that are made of LEDs that solider onto the cuircut board that give your car blinkers, headlights, and breaklights. You can shave the brackets for the screw and lower the car.

Look online for instructions or if you know electronics be crative and do things yourself. Happy Hunting

Note: you can do these things with any Micro R/C, but you don't want to screw around with something expensive so get something cheep and experiment. or get a Bit Char-g and race that around.

I never new they made these until today. I HAVE GOT TO GET ONE!!

I used to have RC cars (Fox, Grasshopper) and an RC plane with a .40cc engine. But that was long ago, and that is a costly hobby.

These look pretty cool and it looks like you can have some SERIOUS fun tinkering with these modding them out for less than $50.

How well do they handle bumps? Can you run them on concrete? What if they fall off the table? Will they be crunched for life?

Thanks

Are those American Bit Char-g's? Can you swap parts with bit char-g parts? Or are these just junk?

They appear to be about the same. From what I have researched they use SOME of the same components, but the radio controller, tires, and what not are lower quality internally. The tires are also harder and not as uniform. They also squeezed things together a little tighter to be able to make the claim they are smaller. I bought a couple and had some problems with them, not bad if you want a temporary one. Can't be $10-15 but you get what you pay for!

The american version of the Bit Char G can be purchased at http://www.rcmicroracers.com I just got a Red RX-7 yesterday from there. It actually performs better than the Bit Char G's I have do. I think it's because the FCC regulated these more. I have a Bit Char G on 27MHz and a MicroSizer from rcmicroracers website. They don't operate from the same remote. Which leads me to believe there is an offset in the frequency range. The FCC is strict on guidelines when it comes to stuff like that.

I also ordered from some other websites, I found these Z cars, not the name brand ones, but a mini car also. I've been waiting almost a month to get them. They are cheep also. Found a review and it basically said find a better way to waste your money. They try to get you to buy them by saying the come with road cones and others don't. I'd rather have a good car.

So I got the Yellow S2000 from rcmicroracers.com and I'm impressed. They come stock with the 2.2 motor instead of the 1.0. The range is a lot better and everything is standard. On a full charge I had my car go over 20 feet away from me before it stuttered and cut out. I also noticed it turns better than my Bit Char G's. I'm not sure what the difference is there since they just use an electro magnent, but my new car turns tight both ways. My Bit Char G's only turn one way really tight. The US versions seem to be consistant. I just ordered 2 more cars from their site also. They have a reseller program but I had to email them about it since they aren't done with the entire website yet.

Oh yeah, another thing is they have a no questions asked money back guarantee on the US version. Since everything else isn't licensed it's a no go unless you get the Micro Sizers ( That's the US name for the Bit Char G )

Last bit of advice, if it sells for less than $20 it's probably junk.

Hey Astro, I just checked www.rcmicroracers.com site again, they have everything in stock and lowered the price on all the body sets by $1.

Check out their faq, it talks about the cheeper cars. Of course they want to promote their product, but it says they bought the cheeper cars to see if they wanted to sell them also but they decided not too. Sounds about right though, what they said.

They sent me a free 2.6 motor and gear set! I recommended some people to their site and they left my email address in the comments saying I referred them. Well I guess if you send them some business they appreciate it and send you free stuff. Wonder if I can get a red lancer! hehe

I've bought a bunch of these things, but I want to modify, hack, and improve them. Most of this I can handle myself, but there are always questions that fellow enthusiests can help with. Is there any discussion board or site that covers modding these cars?
Particularly electrical, mechanical, and aesthetic mods.

Thanks

There are some kewl UK sites. One guy has a kit for tail and head lights. The break lights come on and it has left and right blinkers. There are MPEG's on the site of it, very kewl. I can't remember the site though. You have to get in there and solder the wires to the board though. It would take a steady hand.

Hey guys,

I talked the guys who run www.rcmicroracers.com into putting on a sale. They said they can tell where the links people are clicking on are at, like a refferer or something. So I told them I posted a couple messages on here and they thanked me. I said they should put on a sale and see if they can get some volume.

SO they have them on sale for $29.99!!! You all are welcome! PLUS they discounted some of the accessories, like the tire set is $3.50 if you buy it with a car. AND if you buy any accessory listed with the car there is no shipping charges on those parts. It's a hell of a deal! They told me in a week the prices are going back to $34.99 and that in October everybody is expecting to run out of stock and raise prices to $39 or higher, especially around Christmas, so if you have been wanting one, you have a few days to save some cash!

Has anybody bought a Z-car? I just picked up a viper, man these are kewl! It's so realistic, I swear if you didn't know it was RC you'd think somebody used a shrink ray on the real thing!

I was wondering if you found any information about the battery problem with DigiQ? I have the same trouble.

Please email me at Richard.Wade@dsm.com

After a few minutes it goes steady green but the car is completely dead. Can anybody read Japanese and tell me what the trouble shooting section says in the owners manual? I sent an E-mail to seller, hope he helps me.

You guys might also like to take a look at my DigiQ review that I posted (if you haven't already seen it):

Also, it appears that Radio Shack is selling a Bit Char-G type car called a Zipzap:

http://www.zipzaps.com

Also, I'll be posting a review of the MicroSizer car soon.

I stopped in RadioShack today to check out the Zip-Zaps. They seem pretty cool, they are a little bigger though and the controllers seem nifty.

What caught my eye was the Fast and the Furious (yes, the movie) performance kit. For $12.99 you get two bodies (they don't fit the Bit Char-G's), two motors, two sets of wheels and rims, 3 stabilizers and three sets of gears.

Guess what? The gears, rear tires and rims (with the gear) and motors fit the Bit Char-Gs!! I through the Zip-Zap 'Nitrous' motor in my Nissan Skyline with the fastest Zip-Zap gear set and my Nissan never ran so fast!! Sweet!! This motor and gear set smoke my stock Nissan Skyline deluxe package that has the 2.6 motor with stock gears, it is noticeably faster!! Check these out, you'll be happy.

I just got mine from rcmicroracers.com..

dood these things are totally kewl! Thanks WRXRacer.. I compared on the net, and I ordered a ton of accessories with my car, and I saved like $12 in S&H on that site plus they were cheeper. It's not on sale for $29.99 it's $28.99 dood.

What are some good hack/mod sites for these?

I can't keep them on my desk, they zip right off the edge. Man these things are faster than I thought. They scare the crap out of my cat too. haha

I made a dual cell Bit Char-g that goes twice as fast and can pull a wheelie for 4 feet. It can also easily do jumps that I made 6 inches tall and clear 6 inches before landing on the landing ramp.
Here's a pic of it http://209.61.216.212/upload/chrome/DualBit.jpg

In regard to the question of why the higher the frequency the better the reception, I think that I can sum that one up. A 57 Mhz car will go farther than a 27 Mhz car due to the frequency sign. This "sign" is like an S lying on it’s side (which looks like a wave). The higher the frequency, the taller the curves on the wave become. When this happens, the space in between the continuos series of waves becomes very small, and makes the it more difficult for electromagnetic impulses to interfere. Now electromagnetic impulses are everywhere. They can be found wherever you are running your car. For example, from the T.V, microwave, dishwasher, ECT.. Electromagnetic impulses are found even away from these appliances due to electrons, protons, and neutrons in the air. Unfortunately there is nothing that can be done to make a 27 Mhz car go as far as a 57mhz car, but if you do what I have done and make some modifications to the car antenna you will be able to have close to the same range with your lower frequency car. I hope that this has helped some of you and not made you more confused.

If you take a piece of 18 gauge (solid) wire and cut it so that it is about 6 inches long you will have your new antenna. Now you will need to solder the new antenna in place of the old one. Once this is done replace the receiving unit back to where it was, and put your car back together. The antenna should be sticking out the rear window about 4 inches. What I did next was took a pencil and wrapped the end (about two inches)of the antenna around it. What this does is makes a spring shape at the end of the antenna. I had to make the coil of this spring the right length to pick up the best reception, you will probably have to do the same, but be patient and keep working on it, and eventually you will see your car going farther.
