Hey guys, I got my Bit-Char-g at www.cosmogames.com for only $35. They are a lot of fun. Go to ebay and search "Bit Char-g" and you can get better tires, faster motors and new chassis and bodys. Thought I'd pass that along ---Ethan |

If you search for "Digi Q" on eBay, it will come up with even smaller RC/IR cars (less than 2 inches). If you want faster mini RC cars, search for Kyosho Mini Z. They may be a bit bigger than Digi Q's and Bit Char-G Micro Cars, but they're a lot faster. |

I bought two of these for my children during a recent visit to Tokyo. I'd never seen them before visiting the department store. Both my 7 year old son and my 12 year old daughter loved them. I have found that adult males seem to like them even more than children. By the way, the cars sold in Japan for 2,850 yen or about $25 US. |

Hi Folks, more info on the 2 products that someone mentioned above: http://www.marine-monsters.com/front/products/digiq.html http://www.marine-monsters.com/front/products/miniz.html Note, please don't order yet, products are not in stock and the order buttons have not been configured properly to reflect the actual models. Please wait a bit. These pages are just previews. Thank you. Edward [This message has been edited by Julie (edited 12-06-2001).] |

How fast are these little buggers? |
|

It runs for around 5 minutes on a 45 seconds charge. R/C Car Action also already speed tested the 2.2 motor at 1.4mph. |

I'm from Manila. The first time I saw these marvelous pieces of miniaturization,I just had to get one.Unfortunately the only store that had them here had only 2 models left and they werent for sale-it was just for display..I'll have to wait 2 more weeks for the rest to come.In the meantime, I was wondering HOW THE CONTROLLER WORKS? |

gas: The car is radio controlled. There's a little transmitter in the controller, and a receiver in the car. Julie |

Is the control of the accel & steering digital or analog? meaning is the speed & steering gradually controlable? |

gas: That's a very good question for which I don't have an answer... Julie |

The gas is a toggle switch, all on or all off, either forward or backward. You cannot go half speed or quarter speed. etc. Another thing to watch for is the engine. The Mazda RX7 and Toyota Celica come with 1.0 engines. the Nissan Skyline and Honda s2000 come with 2.2 engines. I think the 1.0 is way too slow and does not make a very impressive demo for friends. The 2.2 is perfect speed. I haven't tried the 2.6 motor. |

What about the Digi-Q? Are speed and turning degree progressive(variable) on them? I am also worried about the remote control since it's infrared, and not radio. Do they control well? Thanx |
|
baleisen unregistered |
Char-gs are not variable. They are like most RC toys. 1 speed, forward or reverse. 1 angle either way for turning. They are small enough that that shouldn't matter. I wish that they had variable throttle though. |

I just got a Digi-Q off of ebay. At first I was impressed with the speed and the remote control. I than was dissapointed with the battery life. I get less than 2 minutes run time and then the car goes VERY slow. After a few hours of owning it, it now does not work at all! When I go to recharge it, I get a blinking red charge light. After a few minutes it goes steady green but the car is completely dead. Can anybody read Japanese and tell me what the trouble shooting section says in the owners manual? I sent an E-mail to seller, hope he helps me. |

I just ordered a Toyota Celica (black) from http://www.toyeast.com as they're not available in the UK. Good prices $33 (US) including delivery. They also offer a discount too. Another site I've found for accessories is http://www.hlj.com. Great prices.. I've orderd some extra wheels and a 3.0 engine and other stuff I can't remember. Just waiting for it to arrive now. |

Bit Char-G in the UK: Just in case there are any other users based in the UK, I've just spoken to Tomy and they've told me that Bit Char-G will be released in the UK from May. They're calling them Compact Bit Char-G. They're sending me a press release so I'll let you know more when I do. This is excellent news me thinks. Hopefully, Tomy US will follow suit. Mad G. |

hey adding grease on to the back axis will make it silent and way faster .... btw the 3.0 motor + grease on back axel will make it go around 2.1 m.p.h........ the 3.0 motor really is too good but the prob is that the front will skid........ so i have a solution to that if u have a fast or normal motor ( 2.6, 3.0) put hard tyres in the front (bit racer tyres are also very good.... u noe how far it can be controlled rite ?? very close distance u have to moove with the little thing but if ya dun wanna do that open the remote, then cut off the flimsy metal wire and take of the suspender.... make the hole on top bigger and stick a rc antannae on it, connect the wires and close the remote this should maximise the radio contral area to 20 feet.... hehe with these configurations u should have 85 % control of your car..... |

quote: The engine upgrades (2.6 and 3.0) as well as the tires (soft, medium , hard) for the BIT CHAR-G are really from the BIT RACER cars (you will notice on the packaging it indicates BIT RACER parts). Since both BIT RACERS and BIT CHAR-G cars are the same in size, the CHAR-G models can use the RACERS parts as well. Also someone above mentioned that the 2.2 is better than the 1.0 - that is true but it depends. The 1.0 engine came after the 2.2 because the 2.2 is just a bit too fast to play with and TOMY developers realized this. Even though the 1.0 is slower, you will have more control with it than with the 2.2. It's much easier to control considering the 'rocker' type of controls you have to use. One other item to add - aside from the Toyota bB Open deck models and Honda Accord Wagon models now available, there are the Mario Kart models. Only Mario and Yoshi are available right now with the 1.0 engine. |

quote: I have to agree with punisher20 in regards to those who think Bit Char-G sucks. After looking over the specs of the Digi-Q, it is impressive. Although the car might be smaller than the Char-G, the controller is another story. One of the purpose of a miniature r/c, in my opinion, is to take it with you so it can be played with anytime and almost anywhere. With the Char-G, you can carry both the car and controller in your shirt or pant pocket. With the Digi-Q, you can carry the car in your pocket. Well now how about the humongous controller? Can you carry that in your shirt pocket? I think not. Maybe for those of you who thinks Char-G sucks, you can carry the Digi-Q controller up where the sun doesn't shine. Also the Digi-Q uses infra-red. yipee..(with a fizzle). So if I'm playing with the Digi-Q and someone stands between me and the car - "oops I lost control of the car!". Line of sight is great if you don't want any antenna's or wires sticking out - but you need to have a clear view. I don't have anything against Digi-Q at all. In my opinion both Bit Char-G and Digi-Q are small and inexpensive r/c toys we can play around and almost take anywhere to entertain kids and adults. Now if anyone thinks that these small r/c's are nothing compared to the real thing - then that's true. You can't compare apples and oranges. If you want to discuss 1/10th scale Nitro's and electric r/c's, well I have those too and maybe we can compare notes. |

quote: This is all about battery life. I had read taht somebody first charged their car with recarchables in the controller -- and that was a BAD THING. The car's battery just never took a full charge after that and he had to replace the battery. You might try replacing the battery and using only fresh alkalines in the controller. Laptops have this same problem -- memory effect in the batteries. If you don't charge 'em full and run 'em out every now and then, they get weaker and weaker and weaker.... |

Hi all, I've been on a bit of a buying spree lately and thought I'd share my comments on these toys. Here is my shopping list: AE86 tune up box Toyota Celica silver Honda s2000 yellow Honda Wagon bodies MicroB 2.2 motor Bit racer tire set The Celica was my first one and that got me hooked. It came with the 1.0 motor which I thought was a blast when I got it. I ordered the S2000 next with the extra 2.2 motor, bodies, and tire set. And finally wanting more accessories I ordered the tune up box. Both the S2000 and AE86 came with 2.2 motors and I ordered the extra to put in my Celica, but the replacement motor is much faster than the stock 2.2 motors; I'm not sure what's going on there. The Bit racer tire set is a huge disappointment. They are not the same tires that are used on the BitChar-G. They fit, but offer no traction at all. They are a harder rubber than the stock medium tire that come with the cars. They have three different tread patterns, what I would call street tires, autocross tires, and slicks. But like a said too stiff to be real useful on the BitChar-G. The tires that come with the AE86 are what you need. They are actually what I would call soft, medium, and hard and are all slicks. The soft tires work great with my 2.2 motors. The "drift" wheels that come with the AE86 are also a disappointment (taking the tires of you stock axle will give you the same effect). The three sets of gears and sway bars are fun though. So are all the different body combinations you can do with that set. The extra bodies are cool too because they come with a prepainted body and a clear one you can paint yourself. I'd recomment picking up the AE86 set for the additional money it's well worth it, especially since those accessories aren't available anywhere else yet. You'll probably have to turn to ebay for that set though since it's been discontinued from Tomy. hlj.com is taking preorders for the initial D set which will probably be the same basic set I think; if you can wait two months. hi im wondering if the frequency of the remote controller and reciever determines the range that it can be controlled from.. julie stated that she could control her car from 12 feet away with her controller wire sticking out 7 inches.. however i can only control my car from 12 feet with my controller wire sticking out the maximum length.. |

I've been wondering that too. I can control my 45mhz chassis for much farther than the 27mhz one. |

Line of sight is great if you don't want any antenna's or wires sticking out - but you need to have a clear view. -------------------------------------- I was sceptical of the infra-red, but I can tell you that it works just as good as my bit char. I get the same range and blocking the car RARELY has an affect. In fact, I put a white plastic cup over the car (twenty feet away) and the car still works! Don't ask me how?? The IR must be very powerful! I also bought the IR booster and it increased the range and pointing radius (~60 degrees) but I don't think it is worth the money I paid for it. It also makes the remote even bigger! The problem with Digi Q cars is that they steer wide. I bought the DigiQ racetrack and the car rarely makes the sharp U turns. The problem with Bit Char is that the car always makes very sharp turns...more like U turns. The constant clicking of the remote can be very annoying. The proportional remote on the DigiQ is nice in this sense. I am looking forward to future models like DigiQ Propo Special (eta April). It will offer even more control options. Although the DigiQ remote is big, I like the quality and technology. The Bit Char remote is cheap and noisy. I also wish that the Digi had more ground clearance. It wants a flatter surface than the Bit Char. It also spins out on very smooth surfaces. Cardboard and table-clothes are the best surfaces. When it comes to speed, the Digi is much faster than the Bit Char(regardless of motor). When I got the DigiQ, I thought the body styles would be compatible with ChoroQ (penny racers) but they are not. You have to hack off the back of the body, alot of work and looks terrible. If the DigiQ had optional bodies, wheels, tires, more ground clearance, and customized steering, it would be perfect!!! BTW, there is a new car called Nokia Iracer. It looks exactly like a Digi Q. But the remote is f-ugly. Another car I am getting is called "Epoch Indoor Racer" and it is only 4" (much smaller than a Mini Z). |
